Turia's Inca Trail Challenge
Story
“I’ll be trekking the Inca Trail to help burn survivors like me rebuild their lives. I hope you’ll join me!” Turia Pitt
I received burns to over 65% of my body during the 2011 Kimberley Ultramarathon. Seven of my fingers were amputated and I was also left with a severely scarred face. It has been a long, cruel and difficult journey to get to where I am now. But, I still consider myself lucky. Why? Because I live in Australia and could receive the excellent standards of medical care that we so often take for granted.
I first heard about Interplast from my reconstructive surgeon, who volunteers annually by providing free surgical treatment and training overseas. When I found this out, it made me think: if this busy bloke can find the time to help out, then surely I can do something too. That’s why I’m so excited to be participating on this trip. I’ll be doing my bit to help other burn survivors who aren’t as fortunate to live in our great country.
Please donate whatever you can to this fantastic organisation. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a receipt as soon as you make a donation.
